Police Explorers The St. Louis Police Explorers Unit educates young adults on the purpose, mission and objectives of law enforcement agencies. Police Explorers have the opportunity to gain practical experiences while also serving the community. The Explorers program strives for participants to become better citizens and community members while promoting high standards of scholarship, character development and physical fitness.Information for Applicants The Police Explorers program offers an excellent opportunity for those interested in learning more about a career in law enforcement. Though not all Explorers ultimately pursue a career in law enforcement, many current and former Department officers participated in the program as teenagers. Applicants for the Explorers program must be between the ages of 14-20 and be enrolled in high school or possess a high school diploma. Applicants must also maintain satisfactory grades and have no criminal record. If you are interested in applying for the program, print the application found on the right. For complete application instructions, email policeexplorers@slmpd.org or call the coordinator at 314-444-5463.
Curriculum In addition to weekly meetings, participants have the opportunity to attend both local and national conferences, seminars and academies. These events offer Explorers to learn more about themselves through challenging team building activities and learn more about local and national law enforcement practices. St. Louis Police Explorers also serve the community when needed. During the annual parades in St. Louis, Explorers assist with directing traffic and crowd control and also represent their group by marching in the parades. Police Explorers
Meetings are held on Wednesdays at the Five Start Center, 2832 Arsenal. For more information, contact the Program Coordinator Email application or mail to: Attn: Police Explorers, 1915 Olive St. St. Louis, MO 63103 |
