Director of St. Louis Police Academy
Clarence Hines has an extensive law enforcement career and is an award-winning educator. He was appointed to Director of the St. Louis Police Academy in 2023.
Police Academy Director Hines is a veteran law enforcement officer and served in various roles while in the SLMPD before retiring as a Detective Sergeant in 2012. He has worked in District One, Intelligence Division, Violent Crime Task Force, Narcotics, Mobile Reserve, Housing, Police Academy Instructor and Hotel Motel/Interdiction.
During his distinguished career, Director Hines has been awarded thirteen SLMPD Awards of Excellence and eight Chiefs Letters of Commendation.
From law enforcement to the classroom, Director Hines is a retired St. Louis award-winning educator. His honors include the 2016 Witherspoon Award, Special School District Teacher of the Year Award in 2019, Emerson Excellence in Teaching Award in 2019, Keys to the Classroom Award in 2019, Missouri Regional Teacher of the Year in 2020 and a finalist in 2021’s Missouri Teacher of the Year.
Director Hines was appointed to lead the St. Louis Police Academy as Director in January 2023.
Director Hines has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Applied Behavioral Science from National Louis University and a Master of Arts in Theological Studies from Covenant Theological Seminary.
