Commander – Bureau of Auxiliary Services
Major Shawn Dace joined the Metropolitan Police Department as a Police Officer on January 8th, 1990. After graduating the Academy, he served in the Fifth District, the Mobile Reserve/Canine Division, and as a Central Patrol Detective. While serving as a Central Patrol Detective in June 2000, Major Dace was promoted to the rank of Sergeant. While in the rank of Sergeant, Major Dace served in the Eighth District, as a North Patrol Detective, the Housing Authority, and Bureau of Auxiliary Services until he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on in May 2008.
As a Lieutenant, Major Dace served in the Sixth, Seventh, and Ninth Districts, as well as in the Housing Authority until September 2015 when he was promoted to the rank of Captain. As a Captain, Major Dace served as the Commander of District Three and of the Bureau of Investigative Services. On November 14th, 2019, Major Dace was promoted to the rank of Major, and has served as the Commander of the South Patrol Division and the Deputy Commander of the Bureau of Investigative Services. He currently serves as the Commander – Bureau of Auxiliary Services.
Major Dace has a Bachelor’s Degree in Security Management from Webster University. He has been Officer of the Month three times and in 1993, he was the Fifth District Officer of the year. Major Dace has also been awarded six Awards of Excellence and two Chief Letters of Commendation during his career.
