On September 20, the Medical Examiner’s Office notified the Homicide Division that the 31-year-old man died at the hospital on September 20. He has been identified as William Person of the 700 block of Central Avenue, Alton, IL.

Homicide detectives are investigating a shooting that left two people dead and two others hurt on September 18 in the Academy neighborhood.
At approximately 4:50 p.m., officers received a shooting call in the area of Suburban Tracks / N. Kingshighway. Upon arriving, they located a 21-year-old man and a 31-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds at the scene. EMS responded and transported both victims to the hospital. The 21-year-old, identified as Qua’nell Robinson of the 11000 block of Macrinus Drive in Florissant, was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The 31-year-old man was listed in critical/unstable condition.
While investigating, officers were advised two additional victims, a 21-year-old woman and a second 21-year-old man, were privately conveyed to the hospital with gunshot wounds. The 21-year-old woman, identified as Taylor Richards of the 100 block of De Smet Drive in Florissant, was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The second 21-year-old man was listed in stable condition.
An investigation is underway to determine what led up to the shooting, and further updates will be provided as they become available.
