There was a 3% increase in burglaries compared to 2023, but something the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department continues to monitor. During the summer of 2024, there were multiple burglaries across the entire region. Detectives spent hours on the case to gather and review evidence, which included surveillance footage that suggested the same individuals were responsible for a large number of these crimes. Working closely with the St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office, we were able to arrest and charge five suspects.

Addressing Gun Violence
We remain committed to decreasing gun-related crimes in our community. We continue to see progress as the number of Shots Fired calls and ShotSpotter Activations decrease.
Through engagement with our youth, the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department managed to decrease the number of juvenile shooting victims by 6% in 2024 compared to 2023.
