On April 6, 2025, a man responded to the North Patrol Division to report an assault the evening before at his home in the 5300 block of Arlington.
The victim, 74-year-old Willie Chappel, reported answering the door at his residence, being struck in the head, which caused him to fall and lose consciousness. The victim had noticeable injuries when he responded to North Patrol.
The victim responded to the hospital multiple times after his initial injury for seizures, a concussion, and stroke-like activity.
The victim died on October 3, 2025.
On December 23, 2025, the Medical Examiner’s Office notified the Homicide Division of their autopsy results. The victim’s manner of death has been ruled a homicide.
No arrests have been made.
