Major Michael Mueller

Commander – Investigative Services

Major Micheal Mueller is a three decade police officer and joined the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department on October 7, 1991.

After graduating the Police Academy, he was assigned to District Nine before he was assigned to the Narcotics Division and then the Street Corner Apprehension Team (SCAT) where he served four years.

Major Mueller was transferred to work on the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Task Force. While assigned to the DEA, he worked in the Hotel/Motel Drug Interdiction Unit and the Most Violent Offender Unit. In 2007, while on the task force, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and assigned to District One and the Police Athletic League.

In October of 2011, he was promoted to Lieutenant and assigned to District One before being transferred to the Special Operation Unit.

In August of 2017, Major Mueller was promoted to the rank of Captain and assigned to District 5 and then District 2.

He was promoted to Major in November of 2023 and is currently the Commander of the Bureau of Investigative Services.

Major Mueller has received the Medal of Valor two times, the Distinguished Service Citation, Meritorious Service Citation, the Chiefs Letter of Commendation four times, Officer of the Month two times and eight Awards of Excellence.

Major Mueller honorably served as a member of the United States Marine Corps.
