18-Year-Old Found Shot Inside Carjacked Vehicle

On March 2, 2025 at approximately 5:56PM, District 4 officers responded to the 3900 block of N. 19th Street for a Car Jacking. When they arrived, they were met by a 63-year-old woman and a 75-year-old woman who stated they were both robbed of their vehicles at gunpoint by 5 unknown males. The 63-year-old woman stated she was approached by the unknown males who pointed guns at her and demanded she hand over her property. Fearing for her life, she complied and two of the males took off in her Honda Element.

The 75-year-old woman stated she was sitting inside her vehicle when she was approached by the unknown males who pointed guns at her and demanded she exit her vehicle. Fearing for her life, she complied and got out. Three of the unknown males entered her Chevrolet Equinox and took off.

Both the 63-year-old and 75-year-old stated they were not injured during this incident.

Officers were able to track the Equinox to the intersection of Winnebago and Minnesota where the vehicle was found parked. At 6:26PM officers observed an 18-year-old male in the back seat of the Equinox, dead from an apparent gunshot wound. Homicide Detectives responded and took over the investigation.

At 9:30PM, Mobile Reserve officers observed the Honda Element near Jefferson and Cherokee. As they attempted to pull the vehicle over, it took off and officers pursued. The vehicle eventually became disabled at W. Florissant and Taylor and the two occupants took off on foot. After a brief foot pursuit, officers arrested an 18-year-old and a 17-year-old male. Two handguns were also recovered.

This investigation is still active and is being investigated by the Homicide Division.
