District 2 and Accident Reconstruction are investigating a hit-and-run crash that left a bicyclist dead on April 1, 2025 at Gravois & Bamberger.

A preliminary investigation revealed that at approximately 7:50 p.m., the unidentified male bicyclist was traveling westbound on Gravois in the bike lane at Bamberger. The bicyclist then traveled southbound across the westbound lanes of Gravois and was struck by a gray SUV as the bicyclist entered the eastbound lanes of Gravois. Further investigation revealed the bicyclist was riding against traffic and was not at a crosswalk or electric signal when he was struck. The SUV fled from the scene after striking the bicyclist.

The collision caused the bicyclist to land in the westbound lane of Gravois where he was subsequently struck by three additional vehicles. Two of those three vehicles stayed at the scene and are cooperating with the investigation.

EMS responded and transported the bicyclist to the hospital where he died. The investigation is ongoing.
