Man Shot by Known Suspect During Family Gathering in Walnut Park West

District 6 is investigating a shooting that injured a 66-year-old man on April 13, 2025 in the 5600 block of Goodfellow.

Shortly before 11:15 p.m., officers received a call for a shooting at a residence at the location. Upon arriving, they located the 66-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds to his abdomen.

The 66-year-old man was unable to provide a statement due to his injuries. However, a preliminary investigation revealed that the 66-year-old man was attending a family gathering at a home around 11 p.m. when he became intoxicated and argumentative with others in the home. At some point, a scuffle ensued between the man and his niece. During the scuffle, an 18-year-old male, who is the man’s nephew, fired shots at him.

EMS responded and transported the 66-year-old man to the hospital where he was listed in critical but stable condition. The 18-year-old male fled from the scene after the shooting. The investigation is ongoing.
