Homicide detectives take lead in death investigation

Homicide detectives have taken the lead in a death investigation after a woman was found seriously injured on July 24 in the Carondelet neighborhood.

Around 10 p.m., officers received a call for a “person down” in the 300 block of Bellerive and located a 36-year-old woman in the street suffering from traumatic injuries to her body.

EMS transported her to the hospital where she was pronounced deceased. It was initially believed the woman was struck by a car; however, investigators continue to review evidence to determine the circumstances of the woman’s death.
