District 3 is investigating a robbery that occurred on August 5 in the Benton Park West neighborhood.
At approximately 1:30 p.m., officers received a call for an assault and located a 36-year-old female victim who reported this incident. The woman told officers she responded to an apartment in the 2700 block of Texas to conduct a final walkthrough with a 32-year-old female tenant (suspect #1). During the walkthrough, a 48-year-old male (suspect #2) appeared and pointed a firearm at the victim. The victim said when she attempted to leave, both suspects began fighting her to prevent her from leaving. The victim said she was able to grab suspect #2’s firearm and fired shots in the air. The suspects took the victim’s cell phone before fleeing. The victim was able to escape to the 2200 block of Sidney where she contacted police.
