Arrestee Experiences Medical Emergency, Rushed to Hospital in Critical/Unstable Condition

Around 10:20 a.m. on August 22, 2025, first responders were called to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department’s Prisoner Processing area of the St. Louis City Justice Center (CJC) for a sick person call.

Staff assigned to the Prisoner Processing area observed a 43-year-old woman experiencing a medical emergency and alerted medical personnel in the CJC.

Medical staff started to perform life-saving measures and revived the woman.

She was rushed to the hospital by EMS and is listed in critical/unstable condition. Due to the woman’s condition, detectives assigned to the Force Investigations Unit were called to investigate.

SLMPD’s Force Investigations Unit is responsible for investigating all in-custody deaths and deadly force incidents involving law enforcement that occur within the City of St. Louis. While the woman is still alive, her critical/unstable condition has initiated a Force Investigations Unit investigation. Detectives will conduct a thorough and comprehensive investigation and prepare a full report.
