District 5 is investigating a carjacking that happened on January 2 in the 2700 block of Marcus.
A 33-year-old woman and 30-year-old man told officers they were inside their car at approximately 1:30 a.m. when a Chevy Malibu with heavily tinted windows pulled alongside them. At that point, a known male suspect exited the Malibu with a handgun.
The man and woman said the suspect forced them out of their car at gunpoint and ordered the woman to leave her tote bag inside the vehicle. The woman complied and then the suspect entered the victims’ 2020 Honda CRV and fled from the scene.
The victims were not injured during the incident. The investigation remains ongoing.
