Around 7 a.m. on November 9, detectives with the Force Investigations Unit were contacted by the St. Louis City Justice Center after a detainee died while in-custody at the CJC.
The male was found unconscious and provided medical treatment by EMS but ultimately died. While the investigation is early, there are no obvious signs of trauma and it appears the detainee experienced a medical emergency.
The Force Investigations Unit is responsible for investigating all in-custody deaths and will conduct an extensive investigation and report.
