Juvenile Arrested for Downtown West Carjacking

District 4 is investigating a carjacking that occurred on December 26 in the 1200 block of Lucas.

Two 16-year-old males told officers around 11:25 p.m., they were inside their Toyota Camry waiting for a friend when three male suspects approached them. The teens said one of the suspects asked for a lighter. One of the 16-year-olds said he didn’t have a lighter but offered the suspect his vape instead. At that point, the suspects reportedly walked away.

The 16-year-old males said the three suspects returned a few seconds later, and one of the suspects pointed a handgun while ordering the 16-year-olds to exit their Camry. Both teens exited the car. The three suspects then entered the Camry and fled from the scene.

Prior to the completion of this report, the stolen Camry was located at a gas station in the 2800 block of Gravois. An officer followed the vehicle and initiated a car stop; however, the Camry fled.

The Camry eventually stopped at Texas Avenue & Lynch Street where three subjects fled from the vehicle. Two got away. One, a 15-year-old male, was apprehended and taken into custody.

The 15-year-old was transferred to the Juvenile Building where he is being held. The investigation remains ongoing.
