District 5 is investigating a shooting that led to a man barricading himself in a home on December 25 in the 5900 block of Hamilton Terrace.
A preliminary investigation revealed the man, 45, had shot a 38-year-old man in the foot around 12:30 a.m. over a personal matter. The 45-year-old suspect refused to come out of the home after officers arrived and barricaded himself in the home. After tactical negotiations, the man still refused to surrender. An SLMPD Canine eventually located the 45-year-old inside the home where he was then taken into custody around 8 a.m.
The 38-year-old man was transported to the hospital where he was listed in stable condition. The investigation remains ongoing.
