A District 5 officer was flagged down in the area of Lindell and Euclid by a 22-year-old man around 1:30 a.m. on August 24.
The man told the officer he was in the 100 block of Washington Avenue around 10:30 p.m. on August 23. He was approached by several men, one of whom produced a firearm and struck him in the head.
The man took the 22-year-old man’s bag and emptied it’s contents. Taken from the 22-year-old man was $5 in cash, a pair of shoes, and a cell phone charger.
The 22-year-old man was attempting to walk to a friend’s house when he observed the officer’s marked patrol vehicle and flagged the officer down for help.
The investigation is ongoing.
