District 1 is investigating a carjacking that happened on February 10 in the 3600 block of Alberta.
A 27-year-old man told officers that around 5:20 a.m., he went out to his car to let it warm up and left the vehicle running while he went back into his residence. Approximately five minutes later, the man said he was exiting his residence to go back to his car and was approached by an unknown male armed with a firearm.
The 27-year-old said the armed suspect pointed the firearm at him. The 27-year-old said he emptied his pockets and gave the suspect his phone and wallet. The suspect took money from the wallet and then entered the 27-year-old’s 2007 Mercury Montego and fled from the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
