District 1 is investigating a shooting that injured a 61-year-old man on March 5 in the 5700 block of S. Broadway.
The 61-year-old man told officers he was in a rear parking lot at approximately 4 p.m. when an unknown male suspect appeared from behind a dumpster with a firearm and demanded money. The 61-year-old said he began running away and the suspect fired shots at him, striking him in the rear-end.
The 61-year-old said he fell to the ground and then the suspect took money from his pockets and other property. The suspect fled from the scene after the incident.
The 61-year-old man said he drove himself to the hospital after the incident. He was listed in stable condition. The investigation is ongoing.
