District 5 is investigating a shooting that left a 31-year-old man injured on July 8 in the Kingsway West neighborhood.
Shortly after 3:45 a.m., officers received a “Shooting” call in the 1400 block of N. Kingshighway. Upon arriving, they located the 31-year-old victim with a gunshot wound to his knee. The victim told officers he was walking in an alley in the 5000 block of Highland when he observed a male shooting at a building behind the victim. The victim stated he then ran in the opposite direction of the gunshots and felt pain as he was running. At that point, the victim realized he had been struck by the gunfire.
The victim further reported he was picked up by a passerby who then took him to a nearby convenience store where police were called. EMS transported the victim to the hospital where he was listed in stable condition. The investigation is ongoing.
