District 5 is investigating a shooting that left a 43-year-old man critically injured around 9:15 a.m. on November 4.
Officers responded to a shooting call in the 2400 block of Whittier and located the 43-year-old man with gunshot wounds. The man was not able to provide a statement due to his condition. However, a preliminary investigation was able to determine that the man had just left a convenience at North Sarah & Maffitt when he was confronted by an unknown man after exiting the store.
An argument ensued between the 43-year-old man and the unknown male suspect, leading to an exchange of gunfire between the two. Both parties fled from the scene after the shooting.
EMS responded and transported the 43-year-old man to the hospital where he was listed in critical/unstable condition. The investigation is ongoing.
