District 5 is investigating a shooting that left a 25-year-old man injured on December 25 in the 5500 block of Chamberlain.
The 25-year-old man told officers he was at his apartment at approximately 7 p.m. waiting for a friend to arrive. The man said when he opened his door, two unknown male suspects approached him with a firearm and announced a robbery.
The 25-year-old man said a struggle over the firearm ensued as he attempted to disarm the suspect. During the struggle, the firearm discharged and struck the 25-year-old in the leg.
The two suspects fled on foot from the scene. EMS responded and transported the 25-year-old to the hospital where he was listed in stable condition. The investigation is ongoing.
