District 4 is investigating a robbery that occurred on July 23 in the Riverfront neighborhood.
Shortly before 6 a.m. on July 23, officers received a call for a robbery and located a man and a woman in the 1500 block of Collins who reported they were robbed at N. 2nd & Tyler Streets near the riverfront.
The victims told officers they parked and exited their vehicle around 4:45 a.m. at N. 2nd & Tyler after hearing noises coming from their car. While standing outside their car, they said a male suspect in a vehicle approached them, brandished handguns, and then demanded their property and car keys. The victims relinquished their property and money to the suspect then ran from the scene. At that time, the victims said they heard gunshots as they were running. Neither victim was injured.
The victims said when they returned to the location, they discovered their vehicle was gone as well as the suspect. The female victim was able to ping her phone, and officers located the victims’ car in the alley of the 3800 block of Oregon with the phone inside. The suspect, who was sitting in his vehicle, was located nearby in the same alley and taken into custody. The investigation is ongoing.
