District 3 is investigating a robbery and assault that occurred on September 11 in Dutchtown.
At approximately 12:50 a.m., officers were flagged down by two men, 44 and 30 years old, who reported this incident. The two men said they were leaving a residence in the 2900 block of Chippewa when they saw an unknown man being robbed and assaulted at a nearby bus stop. The 44 and 30-year-old men said they ran away after witnessing the situation; however, the suspects caught up to the 44-year-old man and struck him with a flashlight. The 30-year-old man was able to get away.
The 44-year-old man said he was then robbed of his cellphone and wallet at gunpoint by the suspects after being struck with the flashlight. The suspects fled from the scene after the incident. The unknown man who was originally being robbed was not located.
The 44-year-old man sustained a laceration to his head from being struck with the flashlight, but he declined medical attention at the scene. The 30-year-old man was not injured.
