District 1 is investigating a shooting incident that left two men injured around 9:45 a.m. on November 12 in the rear of the 4700 block of Nebraska.
A 20-year-old man told officers he was involved in an argument with a male suspect regarding payment for locksmith services. During the argument, the 20-year-old said the male suspect produced a firearm. The 20-year-old said he then retrieved his own firearm and fired shots at the male suspect. The male suspect fired back, striking the 20-year-old in the arm. The 20-year-old said he then ran from the scene.
The 20-year-old man was transported to the hospital by EMS and listed in stable condition. An investigation revealed his firearm to be previously stolen from Illinois.
Before the completion of this report, officers received a call about a shooting victim that showed up to a local hospital with a gunshot wound to his back. An investigation revealed that person to be the male suspect of this incident. The male suspect refused to provide a statement to officers regarding what happened. He was later taken into custody after receiving a fit for confinement.
The investigation remains ongoing.
