District 3 detectives are investigating a shooting incident that left two people injured on June 23 in the 3700 block of Michigan.
Shortly before 5:30 p.m., officers received a call for a “Shooting In Progress” and located a 44-year-old man and a 39-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds. Several other victims who were uninjured advised officers that the shooter was still on scene and that they had disarmed the suspect prior to police arrival. Preliminary investigation revealed the victims were sitting outside their residence when they observed the suspect firing shots in the air before firing in the victims’ direction.
EMS responded and transported the two gunshot victims to a hospital where they were both listed in stable condition. The suspect was transported the the hospital for treatment of injuries sustained during the disarming.
The investigation is ongoing.
