District 5 is investigating a robbery that reportedly occurred on a MetroLink train shortly before 3 p.m. on October 20.

Two 21-year-old men reported they were on a train approaching the Central West End station when a male suspect approached them with a machete. The two men said the suspect demanded their property, to which the victims relinquished their electronics to the suspect. The two men contacted police upon exiting the train.

A track of one of the victim’s phones, as well as collaboration with Washington University officers, led to the suspect being found in the 100 block of Newstead. The suspect was taken into custody. The victims were not injured during the incident.

The investigation is ongoing.
