District 3 is investigating a shooting that injured two men on April 19, 2026 in the Benton Park West neighborhood.
Shortly before 6 p.m. on April 19, officers received a call for a shooting at the Furr Smoke Shop and Market in the 3000 block of S. Jefferson. Upon arriving, officers located EMS giving medical treatment to a 22-year-old man that had a graze wound to his head. The man was transported to a hospital for further treatment.
While investigating at the scene, officers were advised that another man, also 22, was dropped off at a hospital suffering from a gunshot wound to his head. He was listed in critical but stable condition.
A preliminary investigation revealed an exchange of gunfire occurred between an unconfirmed number of people when the two men were shot. Detectives are continuing their investigation into what led up to the incident, including who all was involved.
