Woman Carjacked in Bevo Mill, Arrests Made

District 1 is investigating a carjacking that occurred around 6:20 p.m. on October 7 in the 4200 block of Bates.

A 61-year-old female victim told officers she was traveling through the alley of the 4200 block of Bates when an unknown male suspect approached her car and asked if she wanted to buy drugs. The woman said when she declined, the male suspect entered her car, displayed a handgun and then pointed it at her. The woman said she fled from the car and then the suspect drove off in the victim’s 2011 Dodge Caliber.

Just before 8 p.m., the Real Time Crime Center spotted the victim’s Caliber near the intersection of 13th & Russell. Officers on patrol responded to that location and saw a male and a female walking away from the parked Caliber. The male, 52, was found to be in possession of the keys to the Caliber and a firearm. The female, 37, was found to be in possession of suspected narcotics. Both were taken into custody without incident.

The investigation remains ongoing.
