A second person, a 36-year-old man, was arrested Monday afternoon in connection to the deadly shooting that killed Michelle Hampton on November 20.
Homicide Detectives met with the Circuit Attorney Tuesday morning and the following charges were approved:
- Murder 1st Degree
- Robbery 1st Degree (2x)
- Attempted Robbery 1st Degree
- KidnappingÂ
- Unlawful Possession of a Firearm
- Armed Criminal Action (5x)

Detectives have arrested a 43-year-old man in connection to the murder of Michelle Hampton. It appears the suspect and victim knew each other.

Earlier today, detectives presented the case to the Circuit Attorney’s Office. Charges were issued for:

- Assault 1st Degree
- Robbery 1st Degree (2x)
- Attempt Robbery 1st Degree
- UUW Subsection 9
- Armed Criminal Action (8x)
- Kidnapping 1st Degree
- Endangering the Welfare of a Child (2x)
- Unlawful Possession of a Firearm
The suspect is also facing a federal charge of Kidnapping Resulting in Death.

Update on November 21, 2024, at 3:30 p.m.
The woman found dead on Greer has been identified as 37-year-old Michelle Hampton. Her vehicle was quickly recovered after the shooting. A second vehicle, which is considered a vehicle of interest, has been seized by detectives. The investigation remains ongoing.
Homicide detectives are investigating a homicide that stemmed from a kidnapping on November 20.
Around 11 a.m., officers received a call for a shooing in the rear of the 4700 block of Greer Avenue in the Kingsway East neighborhood. Upon arriving, they located a 37-year-old female suffering from a gunshot wound. EMS responded and pronounced the woman deceased at the scene.
A preliminary investigation revealed the woman was reportedly kidnapped earlier in the day by an armed suspect from Whitburn Drive in Clayton, MO. The armed suspect then forced the woman to drive from Clayton to the City of St. Louis where she was later found shot in the rear of the 4700 block of Greer Avenue.
The SLMPD Homicide Division is handling the ongoing investigation. Clayton Police are assisting.
