Update:
The deceased driver has been identified as 32-year-old Jacob Schleicher of the 200 block of Martigney Drive, Mehlville, MO
Officers were dispatched to Interstate 55 at Sidney at about 4:35pm on December 20, 2024. Upon arrival, they observed a multi-vehicle accident with an apparent head-on collision. Accident Reconstruction was called out to investigate.
Preliminary details show that a male was driving his vehicle northbound in the southbound lanes of I-55 at Sidney when he struck another vehicle head-on. The wrong way driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the other vehicle, a female, was listed in stable condition.
