On March 21, 2025, at approximately 5:30PM, District 1 officers received a call for a shooting in the 4500 block of S. Compton Ave. When they arrived, they located spent bullet casings and blood in the street. Officers canvassed the area and eventually located a 19-year-old man who had been shot, inside a nearby apartment.
Paramedics responded and conveyed the 19-year-old to the hospital where he was listed in critical, but stable condition.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the 19-year-old was meeting with several suspects to buy some marijuana, when gunfire erupted near the car they were occupying. The suspects took off in a silver 4-door sedan, and the 19-year-old ran into the apartment to ask for help.
