SLMPD Officer Shot at During ‘Shots Fired’ Investigation, No Injuries

District 5 is investigating a “shots fired” incident wherein an SLMPD officer was shot at shortly after midnight on October 21 near Union & Theodosia.

Officers had received a call to the 5300 block of Theodosia relative to a ShotSpotter call. While investigating, an officer was walking through an alley behind the 1600 block of Union when he observed two male subjects. At that time, one of the males yelled the word “police” to the other male.

The two males then entered a red SUV as the officer began to walk in their direction. As the suspects were fleeing the area, one of the suspects fired gunshots towards the officer. The officer was not struck by the gunfire and did not return fire at the suspect.

No injuries were reported during this incident. The investigation is ongoing.
