Two Shot After Robbery Attempt Leads to Gunfire

On October 7, 2025, just after 7:00PM, District 4 officers responded to the area of N 9th St. and Lucas Ave. When they arrived, they located a 14-year-old boy with multiple gunshot wounds to his lower extremities, on the sidewalk of N 9th Street just north of Lucas Ave. A black pistol was located and recovered directly next to the 14-year-old.

Additional officers arrived and located a 45-year-old male, also suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his lower extremities, in the area of N 9th St. and Convention Plaza.

Both the 14-year-old boy and 45-year-old man were conveyed to the hospital by EMS and listed in stable condition.

An investigation revealed the 45-year-old victim and another 46-year-old man were standing on the sidewalk of N 9th Street, when the 14-year-old suspect and another unidentified male approached the two men, asking for a phone charger. When the two men stated they did not have a phone charger, the 14-year-old male suspect pulled a ski mask over his face, pointed a handgun at the two men and announced a robbery.

The 45-year-old man told the 14-year-old to put down the gun as he retrieved his own firearm. The 14-year-old then shot the 45-year-old man, who returned fire, striking the 14-year-old in return.

The second male suspect, who accompanied the 14-year-old suspect, fled the scene on foot.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact a District 4 detective at 314-444-2500.
