UPDATE: On March 11, 2025, the Circuit Attorney’s Office issued the following charges against 55-year-old Vincent Simmons, who was shot on March 8.

- Possession Of Controlled Substance (Felony)
On March 8, 2025, at approximately 1:10 a.m., District 5 officers received a License Plate Reader (LPR) alert on a vehicle wanted for Felony Stealing out of Richmond Heights, Missouri.
Officers attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle at Page Boulevard and Walton Avenue; however, the vehicle fled. Officers continued following the vehicle which ultimately crashed in the rear alley of the 5000 block of Kingshighway.
Two female occupants, ages 42 and 34, were in the vehicle and complied with officers to remain in the vehicle. A male driver, believed to be in his mid 50s, fled from the vehicle and hid in a nearby yard.
An officer entered the yard and attempted to take the man into custody. During the attempted arrest, the officer discharged his weapon and the man was struck in his torso.
The man was transported to a hospital where he was listed in critical/stable condition.
A firearm was recovered from inside the vehicle.
No officers were injured during the incident.
The officer involved in the shooting has 2 1/2 years of service.
The Force Investigation Unit is handling the ongoing investigation.
