District 4 detectives are investigating after officers responded to a call for a Hold Up in the 1400 block of Glasgow on June 24, just before 1:30 p.m.
The victim, a 17-year-old male, told officers he was walking in the 2900 block of Sheridan when a white BMW X3 pulled to the curb next to him. The front seat passenger of the vehicle exited and approached him.
The suspect produced a black handgun with an extended magazine and announced a robbery. The suspect went through the victim’s pockets and removed his wallet and cell phones. The suspect got back into the white BMW which left the area.
Officers provided a description of the suspects and vehicle to dispatchers who broadcast the information city-wide. Officers responding to the area spotted the vehicle near Glasgow and Gamble.
A pursuit of the vehicle was initiated after the driver fled, refusing to stop when an officer activated his vehicle emergency lights and siren. The white BMW struck another vehicle and continued to flee, leaving the scene of the crash. The vehicle eventually stopped in the middle of Sheridan just north of Dr. Martin Luther King.
Two juvenile males fled on foot and were taken into custody after brief foot pursuits by responding officers. A black semi-automatic pistol with an extended magazine was located on the rear seat of the BMW X3. Property belonging to the victim was recovered from one of the juvenile suspects.
The investigation is ongoing.
