District 5 is investigating a robbery that happened on March 26, 2025 in the 5000 block of St. Louis Avenue.
A 40-year-old man told officers he was at a gas station playing slot machines around 1 p.m. when he was approached by a 39-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman. The 40-year-old man said the couple asked him if he worked construction on houses because they needed work done at their residence. The 40-year-old man told them he was interested in doing the job and would follow them to their home to give them a quote.
Once arriving to the couple’s alleged property about a half block away in the 5000 block of St. Louis, the 40-year-old man said he was directed to the rear of the residence. At that point, the 40-year-old man said the 39-year-old man produced a firearm and then robbed him of his money. Both the man and woman left the scene after the incident.
Officers canvassed the area and located the two suspects in their vehicle back at the gas station where they met the 40-year-old victim. Both suspects were taken into custody.
The 40-year-old man was not injured during the incident. The investigation remains ongoing.
