Man Shot in Forest Park Southeast

District 2 is investigating a shooting that happened at 4:30 p.m. at McRee and S. Vandeventer.

Around 6 p.m., officers were called to a local hospital where they met a 35-year-old man being treated for a gunshot wound to his hip. The 35-year-old man told officers he and his 36-year-old brother were stopped in their car in traffic on S. The 35-year-old claims the suspect asked if they wanted to buy drugs, and when they declined, the suspect produced a handgun and announced a robbery. The 35-year-old said he then struck the suspect with his fist, and the suspect fired a gunshot, striking the 35-year-old in the hip.

The 35-year-old was then driven to the hospital where he was listed in stable condition. The investigation is ongoing.
