The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department has hired Mitch McCoy to lead the Public Affairs and Information Division. His start date is Monday, May 6, 2024.
“We are excited to welcome Mitch to our department, and appreciate his enthusiasm in bringing his expertise and experience to our team,” said Commissioner Robert Tracy. “From reductions in crime to enhancements in our public safety strategies, we have a lot to be proud of at the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department. I know that Mitch will hit the ground running, and he will undoubtedly play a pivotal role in helping us to share this work, and our story, with the public.”
Mitch McCoy is an experienced communications professional who has worked in law enforcement as well as in the news media. He spent most of his career in Little Rock, Arkansas (from 2015-2023) as a reporter at an NBC affiliate, and previously served as a Public Information Specialist with the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office. McCoy came to St. Louis in April of 2023 as an Investigative Reporter for Fox 2.
“I’m humbled and honored to be joining the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department,” McCoy said. “I’m thrilled to help share the stories of the officers protecting and serving the citizens of St. Louis. I believe this will help build a stronger relationship between the police and our community.”
McCoy will start with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department on Monday, May 6, 2024 and will be available on the SLMPD Weekly Crime Update being held Wednesday, May 8, 2024.
