Around 8 p.m. on December 22, 2024, District 2 officers were called after multiple people were hit by a car while on the parking lot of Ted Drewes in the 6700 block of Chippewa.
After officers arrived on scene, they found a 21-year-old female, A 17-year-old male, a 55-year-old male, a 39-year-old male, and a 12-year-old female who were injured and transported to the hospital. We’ve learned an 82-year-old man was also injured.
A preliminary investigation reveals the driver was traveling westbound on Chippewa when the vehicle suddenly left the roadway and crashed into metal barriers on the parking lot, hitting multiple people.
The driver, a 19-year-old male, originally left the scene of the crash. As officers and detectives were on scene, the driver of the vehicle returned with a family member.
The driver was taken into custody.
Detectives are working with the Circuit Attorney’s Office regarding charges.
