On December 21, 2024 around 2pm, Anti Crime Task Force detectives were working a special detail regarding the numerous car break-ins that have been occurring across the City.
Detectives were called to the QuikTrip at Jefferson and Chouteau about someone breaking into cars. Before detectives could arrive, they were directed to the Topgolf on Chouteau about an Audi circling the lot and individuals looking into vehicles.
When Anti Crime detectives arrived, they were told the suspects just left and headed into the direction of Target. Detectives immediately responded and located an Audi Q7 and individuals actively breaking into vehicles.
Detectives got into position and spiked the Audi as it left the parking lot, which wrecked into another vehicle. The Audi attempted to proceed but hit the median and became disabled. All four suspects bailed from the car and took off running.
A 25-year-old armed man was ordered to drop his gun numerous times during a foot pursuit with the detectives. Two detectives fired their service weapons during the interaction. The suspect was shot in the hip. The suspect’s weapon was recovered at the scene. The suspect was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Three other suspects (ages 18, 22 and 23) that were in the Audi and involved in the car break-ins were taken into custody. Three firearms, at least one with a sear switch, were seized from the Audi.
The Audi was reported stolen from High Ridge on December 18.
