UPDATE: 39-Year-Old Man Dies Days After Being Shot

UPDATE: The male injured by gunfire, 39-year-old Jamell Harlan, died from his injuries on December 5. The man’s family has been notified.

The man originally detained at the scene has been released pending further investigation.


Homicide and District 5 detectives are investigating a shooting that left a critically injured.

Around 1:30 p.m. on December 2, 2025, District 5 officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 5800 block of St. Louis Avenue. When officers arrived, they located a 39-year-old man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

St. Louis 911 received an emergency call from a man claiming to be the shooter. He stated he was located in the 2700 block of Goodfellow. The caller, a 30-year-old man, was detained.

The victim was transported to the hospital in critical condition. Due to the victim’s injuries, Homicide detectives were notified.
