UPDATE: 4-year-old Dies after being Shot in Baden Neighborhood

Child Abuse Unit detectives are taking the lead on a shooting investigation wherein a 4-year-old was shot on September 2 in the Baden neighborhood.

At approximately 11:56 p.m., officers received a call for a shooting at a home in the 700 block of Thrush Avenue. Upon arriving, they located a 4-year-old female suffering from a gunshot wound inside the residence. She was not conscious but was breathing.

Responding officers rushed the child to a hospital and rendered aid to the child while enroute. She was pronounced deceased at the hospital. Four other children were present at the time of the incident however they were not injured. A preliminary investigation suggests the child may have accidentally been shot by another child in the home. No adults were located in the residence.

The investigation into the circumstances of this incident remains ongoing, and further updates will be provided once available. Anyone with information is asked to contact a Child Abuse detective at 314-444-5385.
