Submit a Claim Against the Police Department

The Legal Claims Unit handles claims asserted against the Police Department for personal injury and property damage. Once submitted, staff will investigate the claim, determine whether the department is liable under applicable laws and work to resolve the claim. Submitting a claim form does not guarantee acceptance or payment for damages. The investigation may result in a determination that the department is not liable for the damages.

How to submit a claim

  1. Complete the Claim for Damages Form
  2. Email the form to: [email protected] OR mail (registered or certified is recommended) to:

  1. You will receive a confirmation that your claim has been received within 10 business days.

If you have previously submitted a claim, you may correspond using the email address above, please include your claim number and the involved claimant’s name.
