UPDATE: The deceased woman has been identified as 55-year-old Shirley Johnson of St. Louis City.
UPDATE: The Circuit Attorney’s Office reviewed this case and elected to issue charges against the 32-year-old man. He was charged with Murder 1st Degree, Assault 1st Degree, three counts of Armed Criminal Action, and Unlawful Use of a Weapon.
A 32-year-old man was arrested for a shooting that left a 55-year-old woman dead on March 31, 2026 in the Kingsway West neighborhood.
Shortly after 8 p.m., officers received a call for a shooting in the 5100 block of Cote Brilliante. Upon arriving, they located the 55-year-old woman lying alongside a vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound(s).
EMS responded and transported the woman to a hospital where she died. The 32-year-old man, who was still on scene after the incident, was taken into custody. Detectives are working to learn more about what led up to the shooting, and they are working with the Circuit Attorney’s Office on charges against the man.
