District 5 officers responded to an area hospital after two women were privately conveyed there with gunshot wounds.
A 26-year-old woman was pronounced deceased at the hospital and a 23-year-old woman was listed in stable condition.
A preliminary investigation indicates that a fight involving the two women originated at a location in St. Louis County. The parties involved in this fight found their way to the rear parking pad of a vacant lot in the 4900 block of Cotte Brilliante, where the fight continued.
At some point, the 26-year-old woman went to her vehicle and got a gun. She shot the 23-year-old woman, striking her in the leg.
A 28-year-old man, who is the boyfriend of the 23-year-old woman, drew his own gun and shot the 26-year-old woman.
The man was determined to be an off-duty police officer for the St. Louis Airport Police Department.
The Force Investigation Unit responded and assumed the ongoing investigation.
