District 5 is investigating a shooting that occurred during the early morning hours on August 20 in Kingway West.
At 12:36 a.m., officers were called to the 5300 block of Wabada for a shooting. Upon arriving, they located a 39-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his leg. The victim told officers that shortly after 12:30 a.m., he was walking in the 1900 block of Arlington when the unknown occupant(s) of a black pickup truck began shooting at him. The victim said he then ran to the 5300 block of Wabada for help.
EMS responded and transported the victim to the hospital where he was listed in critical but stable condition. The investigation remains ongoing.
