Two People Taken Into Custody After 16-Year-Old Shot, Killed

Just after 7 p.m. on October 6, 2025, District 4 officers received numerous calls for shots fired in the area of Laclede and North Vandeventer. The call was later upgraded to a shooting in a parking lot in the 3800 block of Laclede.

When officers arrived on scene, they located 16-year-old Darrell Price suffering multiple gunshot wounds. He died at the scene. His family has been notified.

Officers were then notified of a 20-year-old man who arrived at the hospital who had also been shot. His injuries were non-life-threatening.

Homicide detectives responded to the scene. A preliminary investigation reveals the victims and suspects knew each other and met at the location. The investigation is in the early stages, but there are indications that marijuana was involved and a potential robbery or robbery attempt.

The 20-year-old man who was injured by gunfire was taken into custody related to this incident. An 18-year-old man was also taken into custody after surrendering to police. Detectives are working with the Circuit Attorney’s Office.

The investigation is active and remains ongoing.
