Just after 2am on June 22, 2025, District 2 officers responded to the 4100 block of Manchester for a shooting.
When officers arrived on scene, they located an adult man who had been shot. That shooting victim is in stable condition and the circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation.
Officers immediately broadcast a description of a suspect who was riding a moped. A secondary officer located the suspect riding the moped and attempted to stop him at Manchester and Sarah Avenue, but the suspect refused to stop and the officer gave chase.
Drug Enforcement & Intervention detectives responded to assist the secondary officer with the pursuit which ended in the 3900 block of Clayton in a vacant lot. As the suspect was exiting his moped, he refused orders and reached into a bag. Two Detectives fired shots and the suspect died.
A firearm was recovered from the suspect.
The detectives involved in the shooting have 14 years of service and 7 years of service.
Positive identification on the suspect is pending.
